Specific grounds of appeal for this contravention

1. You may not double park this applies even if there are no other vehicles present. Obviously double parking can cause an obstruction. Some councils over enforce this and others do not enforce it. Camden council in London installed a CCTV camera in a Road called Albert street. This road is a quiet residential street. Many homeowners double parked outside their homes whilst unloading heavy shopping or collecting or dropping off children. Camden council issued thousands of tickets and there was uproar from residents. They then agreed to give a grace period. Westminster council allow residents to double park at some locations outside of controlled hours as they sell many more permits than they have spaces for. Of course this policy can change at any time.

Please see our section on parking adjudicators decisions which will have details of cases for this contravention.
